The specified module could not be found msls31.dll When press Sart

My sound stopped working. My computer says that everything is working fine but its not working at all.
There is this error message I get when I press the start button (the specified module could not be found msls31.dll) It all started with that error, now Iv'e tried to do the sfc/scannnow but I get this message (Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them). I can't seem to figure out how to do it manually. I have no audio on my laptop for 2 days now. I can't seem to fix it myself. Help!

This was originally posted in the audio section. I asked the user to repost as he needs to get the system problems fixed first and then if the audio problems still exist we can address them.

How many times did you run SFC? Many times, you need to rerun it three times with a boot between each run. DO NOT try to fix it by downloading the dll from one of those "fix-it" sites. More often than not, you'll get more than you bargained for.

No I didn't boot each time. So I have to restart after every scan and do that 3 times?

Yes, because it may make changes that can't be applied while some files are open. Don't interrupt the shutdown or restart.

What do you mean by "Don't interrupt the shutdown or restart"? It didn't try to reboot itself. This is what I've done before.

I've done the scan a few times. This is what I get..
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log WinDir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log >"%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

I've done that but nothing happens. I don't know what I'm doing wrong? Typed it as it is.

Did you run the command "As administrator" for both the SFC and findstr commands?

The SFC may not help the msls31.dll problem since it's not a system dll but it's to insure your system isn't corrupt. The dll file is for some software you loaded or part of some malware.

Yes I've run the command "As administrator" for both the SFC and findstr commands. My main problem is the audio that's not working. So I thought it's because of the msls31.dll error that I'm getting when I press Start. That only happens once every time I start my computer. The fist time that happened my audio stopped working at the same time. It shows that everything is working but I have no sound. It even fails to play test tone on the speakers property. Tried to update or roll back. No luck.

The Find String command should have put a file on your Desktop. Did it do that? It's better to copy and paste from the tutorial rather than trying to type the full line in. All it takes is one missed space or quote.

What AV do you use? Missing files and error messages could be the first clue of a malware infection. Most will cause instability in a system and even cause crashes.

I'm not using any AV at the moment. I know it's stupid but I have an old laptop and it freezes sometimes so if it freezes and I have an AV (Avast) It won't start properly. Its basically unusable. I have to delete the AV in safe mode and then restart. I can't get a new laptop at the moment so I have to do it with this one. Didn't have any big issues till this audio problem.
