Can't install anything all the sudden

I am new here and I really hope some one can help me with my problem. I can't install anything on my laptop. I was using SpyHunter4 and I think it did things it wasn't supposed to. Now I try to install PSP X6 and that's when I tried others with the same results. I don't get any errors or anything, it just doesn't run the install. It's like it gets everything loaded and reads what it needs to set up and that's it. I have tried every troubleshooting procedure I could find in the past 3 days to no avail. Needless to say, this is driving me crazy! I hope to get pointed in the right direction...

What is SpyHunter4? What 'things' do you think it did that it wasn't supposed to?

Again, what is PSP X6 and what 'others' have you tried?

Do you have a System Restore point from before you did all this? It may be an easy way out.

I sure do wish I did, but no I don't. But I thank you for your suggestion.

So, you were using this SpyHunter because you had an infection of some sort? If so, have you scanned with anything else? Unless the infection is indeed gone, any other fixes would have to wait. SpyHunter itself has a very bad reputation. I had not seen it mentioned in quite some time.

Since you can't install anything (correct?), try scanning with the online ESET scanner. Follow Jacee's instructions from this post (ignore the title)

You need to bring a lot more information to the forum in order for us to help you.

Please read this article to understand how to ask for technical help:

How to Ask a Question When You Want Technical Help

If you do not understand, ask. Please refrain from using 1 word/text speech responses. Ask and state things in full sentences. Also avoid text stating things like "I am not good with computers".

It is okay to not know something, and we can work together to solve almost any issue. This is a two way street, both sides must work together to get results.

    Install problem 2.0

I had been running SpyHunter4 as a clean up utility. I had no idea it had such a bad rep. I went to install Paint Shop Pro 16 the other day and nothing. I click on install, it seems to load what it needs but installer never comes up, it just stops running. I tried some "fixes" that found floating around, but they did not work (ran scnnow and chkdsk. The one I can think of right off hand is renewing file associations. I only tried the .exe, did no good. I did run the online scan as suggested. It found one instance and cleaned it. Rebooted and tried again, no change. And that's as far as I have gotten. If you need more information than this, let me know and I will try my best

    Thanks
