    Windows 7 Defrag

    Hi,

I am looking at defragging my Windows 7 pc. Do people recommend using the in built disk defrag programme?

    Can you let me know,

    Thanks

    Welcome to Seven Forums, wizkid.

I use the built in one, and it seems to work quite well.

Note that there are a load of defraggers out there, some folks prefer one over another, but I really doubt that it makes a dime's worth of difference.

I agree with TheShaft. The only difference you will notice between defraggers is maybe a little bit of speed. More than likely, you will not notice a difference.

If you do want a third-party application, Defraggler is the one that Lifehacker recommends.

It appears Windows 7 has better management for storage anyway, making the need to defrag less often.

The default defragment program for Windows 7 now lets you schedule an automatic launch...before, it had to be started manually.

Yes, that is something I have yet to see in a third-party app.

It looks like they did a good job with this one. I always used third party defraggers, but the Win7 one is as fast and seems to be as good as the third party ones, that's why it's the one I'm using now.
