    Disable Skydrive??

I would rather get rid of Skydrive or Onedrive whatever the annoying application is called as I do not want anything to do with the "cloud" especially storing my documents or any data for that matter.

Is there any way of disabling Skydrive in 7 or 8.1 as i find one cannot remove it without breaking other system features (according to technet ). I have looked around but no real answers.

    Hello John,

SkyDrive is now renamed to OneDrive.

Removing it doesn't break anything other than OneDrive being integrated into Windows (ex: File Explorer in Windows 8.1). You'll still be able to access your OneDrive online through your web browser though.

In Windows 7, OneDrive is not integerated, so there's nothing to do unless you installed the OneDrive desktop app. If so, you could just uninstall it.
In Windows 8.1, you can disable OneDrive integration to remove it.
    Hope this helps. :)

    Hi,
Yea wow you'll need to post a link to TechNet where they said Onedrive uninstall would break something beside the constant connection to Onedrive

I've using Skydrive now Onedrive since it came out as only a website to go to and manually upload to ?
Onedrive desktop sits where it's always been in the Optional windows update section collecting digital dust along with bing desktop search and Silverlight

Do you have a link to the TechNet page that said uninstalling OneDrive would break something? I'll take a look at it to see what they may be referring to. :)

No I didn't save the link Shawn I should have done and will see if I can find it again but it and others did have references to breaking the system if one removed Sky or as it is now Onedrive.

I was wanting to do this as my CCleaner reg scans were being saved to it instead of My Docs and I only found that out when I went looking to delete some old scan results and they were not in Docs. It was matter of waiting until the reg had to be backed up again via CCleaner that I could see where they were going.

In my pic you can see Skydrive is still there after I removed Onedrive.

But have to go out right now so will be a while before I can try to find those refs.

Seems Right clicking Favorites and using restore favorites links would reset them,
You did uninstall onedrive desktop ?

All I did was make sure One Drive does not start at boot in msconfig/startup. It's on my computers but does nothing until I tell it to.
