Paint Shop Pro 9 - Doesn't work after reinstalling Windows 7 again..

    Hi,
I recently had to do a fresh install/reinstall of Windows 7 Home Premium again on my computer, due to a HD failure I had and some other computer issues I was having. Prior to this fresh install, I had the exact same OS installed prior to this as well.

Anyhow, before my HD had failed- I had Jasc Paint Shop Pro V. 9 installed and running just fine on my computer. I know it's quite an older program, but I have used it throughout the years on and off, and am quite fond of it. I used this program up until I did the reinstall of Win7 last month. (And as I mentioned, I had the exact same OS installed when PSP9 was working before).

After doing the fresh install/reinstall of Win7 Home Premium last month, I cannot get Paint Shop Pro 9 to work AT ALL. It will not even start. It installs, but after the install, it does nothing. I can click on a picture and tell it to open in PSP9, but the program will not open. Task Manager does show the program as running, however. But I do not see it. When I right click on the program and attempt to run the program with compatibility settings or with admin settings, the program still does not open. Sometimes, Microsoft will give me the error message, "Incompatible Application".

I have attempted to turn off my firewall and antivirus during installation, and while running the program. Doesn't work. I have tried making registry changes (seen some reference here on the forum), didn't make a difference. I have lowered my UAC levels, program still will not run.

When PSP9 used to work for me (just a month ago), the only issue it had when it would start was that it would say that it needed to change the Windows Color Scheme to Basic, that Aero was not supported.

..Being that I am not receiving a color scheme/Aero message anymore, I wonder if perhaps some of my drivers (video card/adapter/wddm) may be incorrect/outdated from my reinstall (I attempted to update all of my drivers, some of them seem a bit weird though.. I'm not the best when it comes to computers- I have a desktop HP Envy H8 1427, more specs listed under my profile). ..Or perhaps there may be certain Services that need to be running for PSP9 to run successfully? Autorun? Themes? Do certain Services need to be disabled? Just a thought. I am wondering if I have too many things disabled or the wrong things enabled and maybe that is where my problems are at.

I apologize for the length of this post, there is a good chance that there may not even be anyone here that can help. but I thought I would try :) On a side note, I have successfully since this has occurred been able to run: PSP4, PSP 7, and Corel X6 (which I have purchased anyhow, it's the newest version- But I've never liked the Corel versions, I have always preferred Jasc, and version 9, oy).

ANY help and I would be grateful!

    Thank you.

Hi Welcome to Seven Forums ... Looks like part of your problem is you changed your OS .. From Windows 8 to Windows 7.. Try the Driver in the Link below ..I would also suggest running a System Scan ....

Software & driver downloads HP Pavilion HPE h8-1330z CTO Desktop PC | HP® Support

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Holy crap! Is that a link to what I have been looking for.. For like, ever?? Win 7 drivers for HP Envy H8 models? If so, you are a blessing and this is exciting. Perhaps I can maybe get some of my drivers corrected (if any are currently out of whack, that is). When I went from Win 8 to Win 7, I pretty much did research and used driver programs to find the drivers that I needed. Having something like this to compare to will definitely help though, so thank you!

And I'm running another sfc at this very moment. Yesterday (or maybe it was the day before) I had ran it and it said it had corrected/fixed somethings, though I did not pull up the log like I should have to see what those were.

..Hm, sfc says everything is fine. I'll definitely update after I take a closer look at the link and perhaps make a few changes to my computer and it's drivers :)

I was able to make PsP9 work on WIN7 64bits.

By activating the windows service , security account manager , set it to automatic and restarting the computer.
