It refuses to go into safemode when I press f8 after the intial start up screen.
Explain plz. Does "safe mode" crash immediately? Or reboot immediately? Or....
saf mode crashes which would lead to th black screen where it asks you to do a diagnosis. in the beginning diagnosis was stuck in an infinite loop but now it justs says windows cannot fix the problem automatically after i did what the microsoft link i linked above told me to do.

I don't remeber much... arg. the files were in the c drive first folder called program files I think.
You probably deleted the main files not the duplicates. Files in C:\Program Files are normally spoken programs.

Sure you have NO "restore points" at all? Normally creating restore point is enabled by default.

well it IS possible but it says you are in restricted access mode (something like that) and whatever it restores is permanent. Would I lose the picture files if I continue?

With system restore you won't lose any jpg, xls, doc, mp3 etcetera files.

"restricted access mode"??? Exact message please. Try the last restore point or the one before that (write down date/time).
