Although it may be a fine product, I feel it is best to do the tuneups yourself. Do not touch the registry as many automated tuneups do.

Windows 7 does not want or need AVG PC TuneUp or any other program like it.

AVG PC TuneUp broke my computer

Symptom: Windows 7 Home Premium could not execute any files named “setup.exe”.

Cause: AVG PC TuneUp had added keys to registry “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\” including a “setup.exe” key. When uninstalled, AVG left these keys behind, effectively preventing any exe file associated with the key from executing since the key pointed to a now nonexistent debugger.

There is absolutely no excuse for a tool that claims to resolve PC problems to cause problems when uninstalled. I wasted quite a bit of time due to this issue.

    Welcome aboard LS650V.

Reasons for not using a TuneUp program. You have discovered one.

    1. You really don't know what such a program does. You only know what it claims to do.
    2. Learning how to tune up your computer is a learning experience. It's very helpful to learn these things. You gain knowledge. Knowledge you will find is useful in many ways.
    3. A security program such as AVG should stick to security and leave the tune up to the owner of the computer.

    Note:
Many users such as I have tried such programs. For those reasons I now know and suggest not to use such programs.

Personaly, I've used Tuneup Utilities and the such for a long time... and discovered your PC can run faster and smoother if you just uninstall that, and wisely use CCleaner (better just for cleaning temp files, leave the registry alone unless you know what you are doing) along with windows disk cleaner and windows defrag tool, that is all you need to keep your system running smooth.

Says the dude that used O&O Defrag and Tune Up for years.
