Windows Photo Viewer and pdf. files

I attempting to download bank pdf files for tax purposes and each time I try to view, I get a message that photo viewer does not support this type of file or I don't have the latest update. How do I get a pdf program to open instead of this one. I'm a novice; please try to respond in terms that I can understand. Thank you.

Hello Donna, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You would need to install a program like the free Adobe Reader or Nitro PDF that supports opening .pdf files instead. As you found out, Windows Photo Viewer doesn't support .pdf files. :)

Thank you, Brink, for your quick reply. I do have the most current version of Acrobat Reader installed but my computer opens with Photo Viewer.

In that case, you could use step 3 in the tutorial below to use "Open with" with a .pdf file to select Adobe Reader as the default program with the Always use the selected program to open this kind of file box checked.

Open With - Change Default Program
