Inventor Pro hanging in dynamic simulation mode.

I have just built a CAD workstation (Z97WS/i7-4790k) and whilst Inventor runs fine in sketch and assembly modes, it hangs as soon as I go into dynamic simulation. I have installed the latest service packs and updates, disabled my AV software, downloaded the latest drivers, increased virtual memory to the max recommended, reduced screen resolution, removed programs that have been know to cause issues, uninstalled and reinstalled the program (having deleted the original registry entries as per Autodesk's instructions), played around with the graphic card settings in the Nvidia control panel but all to no effect.

I am told that my system , which runs at 4.00Ghz (with 4.4 turbo boost) should be quite capable of running the program without any problems but it doesn't.

As soon as I click on dynamic simulation the cursor starts flickering quickly between an arrow and an egg-timer. Simultaneously, Nortons pops-up with "High CPU useage (100%) and the program hangs with a "not responding".

I don't think the issue is being caused by Inventor and having looked at the problem some time , there is probably some sluggishness with some of the other, more processeor intensive, programs I use.

The Quadro K620 is certified by Autodesk for use with Inventor. The GPU graph shows less than 50% usage when the program hangs.

I am at a loss as to what else to do and would be grateful for some help.

PS I sent the model that exhibits the problem to Autodesk and apparently they ran it without any issues. The same issue occurs with other simple models.

We work with Inventor many years.

It looks like your PC hardware or setup is the problem.

1: The K620 has only about 20% of the performance than your CPU!
For a Inventor high GPU power is better, like a K5200, if you run big parts

2: Dont install extra software on a CAD PC, never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A antivirus software ia a must.
So: Dont disable your AV software!!!

If your GPU driver is too new Inventor, will switch to not optimal mode, check with your Inventor dealer.

What about your PC setup RAM 16GB? SSD? What OS?

I have tried earlier GPU drivers, including the one currently recommended by Autodesk but finding that there was no improvement reverted to the latest K620 driver provided by Nvidia. I will try the recommended one again.

Whilst the K620 is only an 'entry level' Quadro, it still has 2Gb of video memory and should, I am told, work reasonably well - though obviously not with the sparkling performance of a high end Quadro.

Somebody has recently suggested that I should check that all four CPU cores are 'un-parked ' and having done so, I find that two aren't. However, somebody else has suggested that as Inventor doesn't make use of Multicore threading that this is unlikely to be the problem. I need to look at this more thoroughly.

I have 16Gb RAM (Corsair Vengeance, 1866Mhz) and a Samsung Pro 250 Gb SSD. The OS is Windows 7 Pro (64- bit).

I only disabled the AV software to see if it was cause of the problem.
