Paging file - What does it do and why did i get an alert message

Hey guys for some odd reason on my friends comp he got this ind of warning message when he booted up something about windows adjusting the size of his paging file when checking it says 66MB. If its supposed to be something lie virtual ram isnt it supposed to be something like 1.5x the amount of ram you got? (like 4gb of Ram be 6gb for the paging file?)

Check the settings for the pagefile using Brink's tutorial below.
Many people recommend using System Managed.
I've been using my own custom settings for years, and it hasn't caused me problems.
I mostly use 1 GB min and 4 GB max, pagefile on the [C] drive.
Then, i can see if Windows ever upped the pagefile size for whatever reason (it's never increased for me).

If a pagefile is not on the [C] drive, a memory dump can't be created if there is a BSOD.
I believe a min 200 MB is required for a minidump.

See this tutorial by Brink for a better understanding:
Virtual Memory Paging File - Change

Is 66 MB the min and max ?
You might want to look at Task Manager/Resource Monitor/Memory for info about how memory is being used.

Paging File
When I go to boot up the computer sometimes it states that my computer has made a temp paging file. Doesn't tell me where, it side it did. I have a RAM Disk installed which I've told the paging file to go to, to include my temp files. I've done this because I have an SSD.

My ram is 4.00gb (3.80 usable). I now have my paging file set to 0. Someone told me not to this, so can anyone help me?

SSD and paging file(s).
So many different "recommendations" - which is best and why 1) Keep page file on C: drive system managed 2) Keep page file on C: fixed small size if you have lots of ram 3) Move page file to another drive, system sized 4) Set 2nd system managed page file on a second drive, small page file on...

Paging File
When my system boots I get a message that there is no paging file and windows will set a tempoary one. I have 4 gigs of ram so I go through the procedure of setting a page file size and reboot after which I get the same message. Can someone tell me what I must do to correct this? Thanks, Bob
