    How do I disable the screen saver on my ASUS?

    I'm just so irritated right now.
    I have been trying and trying to get rid of the screen saver that my netbook has. I go to change the settings the normal way and select [none] as my screen saver. I apply and close the window. But it won't change. I can go back to the window and it's back to the exact setting it's been on.
    I uninstalled ASUSscreensaver. That blows too. Is there something I can do in regedit that will help me solve this problem?
    Thanks.

    Go to Control Panel, click Appearance and Personalization. then Personalization, and then click Screen Saver.

    *To turn off all screen savers, under Screen Saver, click (None) in the drop-down list, and then click OK. – or – To turn on a screen saver, click a screen saver in the drop-down list, and then click OK.

    That is the standard. now if that doesn't help, please post your computer model so that i can do some more research for you.

    It's an Eee PC Seashell netbook, like this one: ASUS Eee PC 1015PEB-RD601 10.1" Netbook Red - Newegg.com
    I don't remember correctly what year it is, but my guess would be 2011/2012.

    did you try the first option above?

    for your computer model, please post your dxdiag info.
    if you dont know how. On your start menu, type dxdiag on the search bar, hit enter then yes. copy the info on the system information tab or choose the save all information, then upload or copy the info on your next reply.

    Thanks

    In addition, at Control Panel>Personalize select an Aero Theme (I suggest Landscapes) then click on Screen Saver to choose None.

    If you like the Win7 National Edition Background Landscapes, then you can have the full 120 slide collection from all Win7 National Editions from Step 12 of Clean Reinstall Windows 7.

    Since the EE still has the factory install, you can also greatly improve performance by following the rest of the steps in that tutorial.

    Option one, number two of this tutorial,

    Screen Saver - Enable or Disable

    Will disable your screensaver.

    In the blue note box is a link to a shortcut that makes it easier to access the settings in Starter,

    Screen Saver Settings Shortcut - Create

    derekimo:
    I went to go download it and it says the file is not safe. And then when I go to open it anyway, my computer's like 'it will delete this and that and blah blah and are you sure?'
    It freaks me out a little bit. It's safe, right? I mean, it's not going to do anything other than disable the screensaver?
    Thanks, and sorry for a bit of a late reply.

    No problem, it's safe, it's just a reg entry that disables it, this is whats in it,

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop]
    "ScreenSaveActive"="0"

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "NoDispScrSavPage"=-
    We wouldn't have anything that wasn't safe. The warning is standard when merging reg files.
