OneDrive for Business Opening Multiple Instances of Itself

As the title states, ODfB is repeatedly opening over, and over, and over, and I cannot get it to stop. When I attempt to right-click on it in either the notifications bar, or task manager, it always moves and closes the options window before I can select anything (it moves because it has opened another instance).

Microsoft support was useless. I'd like to avoid re-installing because it takes a long time to re-download and sync all of my documents.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -James

    Solved!

Well, after a few hours of trying different things, including:
    • Numerous re-boots
    • scouring MS support
    • "repairing" OneDrive via the Add or Remove Programs & Features menu
    • Uninstalling ODfB
    • Uninstalling ODfB AND Microsoft Office

I came across the following MS support page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3038627

I know Microsoft likes to change their support pages around every-so-often and break links, so here is an archived copy of the page just in case: How to remove the OneDrive for Business cache by using the "Fix it" tool

Anyway, this FixIt tool successfully stopped ODfB from opening repeatedly. IT WILL BREAL ALL SYNCED FOLDER LINKS, so be sure to have a back-up in place if necessary. Once it runs you can re-sync the folders, but you will have to download everything from the server. For some reason ODfB doesn't "merge" the client-side files with the server-side ones like Dropbox.

    Mine is doing the same

Hi, Thanks for this... I have one question. I have a onedrive, the one which is automatic in the Windows 8.1 version, where I have all my private stuff on.

And then I have my Onedrive for Business - which I am not using as much. If I am using MS fix - is it only affecting the OdfB or also my normal Onedrive?

    Cheers,
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
Unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with OneDrive or ODfB to confidently provide an answer to your question. Hopefully someone else on the forum will be able to assist!

    Best of luck,
    -James
