Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant
I have seen complaints about this elsewhere. I thought to contribute my experience in case it helps. Or in case someone has already explained and will refer me to that. It concerns this error message:
"There was a problem that caused parts of the Windows Live ID Sign in Assistant to be disabled. You might not be able to sign in to Windows Live in some programs that were recently installed. For more information, please go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=144689"
Firstoff: I do not have Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant nor any other Windows Live software. Nor do I have Essentials which I've seen it suggested to reinstall it.
What I have seen: Three months ago, when Microsoft did its monthly update and then tried to Restart, it restarted twice before it finished. Immediately, I got the above message. Now, every month after the regular update, I get the same message. I have also gotten it a few times on other occasions but not often.
Since I do not have this and am having no problems, I just let it ride.
So, is it possible that, three months ago, one of the updates was for Windows Live or Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant and it is simply reacting to the fact that it could not find this?
One more thing: I have seen others complaining that they get the same message and they do have this program. One person said he had to keep reinstalling it and it only worked once each time.
