MSI Afterburner Files of type "MinimumPrice"?

I decided to start with option 3. I followed your directions exactly, and then rebooted my computer. The entry with minimumprice is back just like it was before! Any idea why the entry came back even after restricting its permissions?

I would like to go through more registry entries before trying option 1 or 2. When I search the registry I actually end up with about 15 separate results. Would it help if I posted all of them? Here are two in specific that look like they are related to the . file extension:

Did the any of account permissions for the FileExts\dot key change to something other than Read?

My UAC setting is:



I set it to this myself when I first installed windows because if the UAC is set any higher than this then CCleaner dims my desktop every time I use it which started to get pretty annoying. However if needed I will raise my UAC setting.

Account permissions for RESTRICTED are still only read. However all other groups (system, me, administrators) still have full control because that was not changed before. Would it be worth a try to disable full control for all entities, reboot, and see if the entry still comes back?

As long as the UAC is turned on, then infections should not run at the highest integrity level (where they can do lots of damage). As far as I know, CCleaner should not cause the display to dim. After you solve this issue, you might want to create a thread for that.

I probably should have highlighted this line:
For the screen above, make all of the other accounts look just like that (i.e. Read only) and click OK.

Let us know if the key gets changed after reboot. If it does change, let us know which (if any) permissions changed.

I just did some quick research and it turns out that updates to Ccleaner in the last year have created an in program option to not dim the screen during operation regardless of UAC setting:



Sorry about missing that step in the registry permissions directions before. I just changed all the permissions to read only and rebooted. This time the permissions have stayed as I left them, read only. However the files of minimumprice type still exist, so it unfortunately has not solved my problem.

Once we have this one key cleaned and locked, we can move on to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dot key. But I would not go beyond that just yet. Cleaning those two keys might "fix" the files shown in your first post.

What would you suggest I do with the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dot key?

Please right click on the the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dot key.
Select Export from the context menu.
Save the reg file somewhere...
...and attach it to your next post.

Here it is.

Since you have that dot key backed up now, please delete it from HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.

Reboot and see if it comes back. If it does not come back, what is in the type column for the folder shown in the OP?
