    Program no more working

    Hello

Hopefully am posting in the right section. I downloaded "Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery" which has a trial period and after installation the program ran smoothly but when I tried 2 open it again it did nothing but freezing the whole computer forcing me to restart, which only happens when i switch off the PSU button, and kept over doing it. I contacted their support guys who where to no help at all and couldn't figure why the prog used to work then not anymore and what could possibly freeze the system so I thought about formatting which helped in nothing so installed XP to check and the prog launched perfectly. I reinstalled 7 again and the problem is back, the program no more freezes the system but just keeps loading and doesn't open but after a very long while and few attempts to run it. furthermore, when I try 2 end the process it keeps showing in the task manager!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Try running as admin.

But then, why go such drastic measures for a trial program? There are other recovery software around.

I already did alongside the compatibility step and resulted in nothing

Because I want to know what could be causing such mess and I only know Stellar as a very good prog when it comes to recovery unless you know another :)

You can try a clean startup - Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
    Also try in Safe Mode

Already did that before I posted here... if possible you give me a list of all possible reasons and fixes all together and if there is something I missed then I'll try instead of posting a fix/reply :)

    Thanks

Unfortunately I don't have a list of fixes. What I already wrote are standard things to try, nothing special.

Do you have Visual C++ Redistributables 2005/2008/2010/2012/2013 for both x86 and x64 installed? It will of course not need all of these (even if it does need one) but best to have them all installed.

Yea had them all before I formatted... what's weird is that the prog did run without any problems and this issue just started all of a sudden and is persistent with windows 7 only... Xp experienced no probs !
