Your system specs don't indicate that you have a anti virus program installed. Not good.

Please list all your security programs and all Cleanup, Tuneup, and Registry tools.

I have no idea what this is.

Hi guys, I ran disk checker (had to be done on startup NTFS) and now I have the BLACK SCREEN. I left it alone for 6 hours and up came the windows log in (logged in) and then I got BLACK SCREEN again. I left it alone for 8 hours and still BLACK SCREEN. I tried power off and restarting but still black screen. I tried inserting the Windows 7 Installation Disk and nothing. I tried booting to safe mode ...nothing....black screen.....No cursor, nothing.......HELP

re no virus on machine is because I don't receive email or web browse on this PC - it is connected to internet for data only.

If you are connected to the internet in any fashion your system can get infected.

Just how are you connection to the internet without a browser?

    giving up

Hi Bear, I couldn't wait for a reply so I tried a few things....even tried as slave on another PC - and tried windows recovery disk.....message is corrupt registry unable to proceed.

So, I have stored that HD away for professional recovery and arranged another HD.

In answer to your other Q re browser....I only received data from the New York Stock Exchange. No browsing. No email....just raw data.

    thanks for your help
