    BIMP for GIMP

    Batch image processing for GIMP.
    Conclusion

BIMP seems to be a very nice plugin. It offers people without any code love or inclinations with a simple, foolproof method of automating boring repetitive tasks. You really can stack the effects and procedures up and create rather powerful results in a fraction of time it would take you to do so manually. This is a huge time and tears saver.

There is room for improvement. GIMP 2.10 setup, plus I'm not sure there's a way to actually save the current manipulation set so it can be used on another occasion. The option to generate templates would also be really cool. All that said, I'm quite happy with BIMP, and it's an excellent addition to a useful and practical application. Take care, fellow gimpers.

How is the Gimp's performance compared to the Photoshop ? And does the Photoshop plugins work in Gimp ?

If anyone is willing to help me with this, I might ditch the Photoshop. Gimp is free and much less resource hungry.

Depends how you use Photoshop. GIMP is very capable but is missing a lot of PSs facilities. Most notably:

    1. Smart Objects and filters.
    2. Adjustment layers.
    3. Layer Styles (Although there is an add-on that gives most of the functionality).
    4. Most content aware work. Again some via an add-on.

If you don't need these then GIMP would do just fine.

There is an add-on that allows some old PS 8BF plugins to work but it is hit and miss. The Nik Collection, ON1, and Topaz have add-ons that allow their use.

Thank you for taking time and sharing this information kado. Highly appreciated. I can't do without the features you mentioned so it looks like I gotta hang onto Photoshop. Also, don't wanna fall into another learning curve at this moment.

You're welcome. I learned on GIMP before moving to PS but I still keep up to date on it. I would find it difficult to go back as I am a strong believer in non destructive processing. GIMP has got a lot better with the release of 2.10 but it is not there yet.
