"Windows help and support " cannot start

I found that this problem can be solved by changing the service settings to automatic in " msc.services " , but the service is not listed. ( Missing ? )

I cannot find any solutions to that anywhere, so if someone has any idea's I would be very grateful,

    Thanks in advance,

    Thelma

Well, it's a big problem, most info is very old or for XP.

I found a Hotfix KB 917607 and installed it.

Had to try 3 times and to temporarily change my update settings and I was afraid all the other updates, that are waiting to be installed, would come through as well, but that was not the case.

    Anyway, problem still the same.

Before the Hotfix I did a system restore to 27 November, that did not work either, so I will continue to search the forums .....

I'm no expert on this but since there are no replies so far:

    Try navigating to "C:\Windows\winhlp32.exe"

Right click winhlp32.exe and choose "Run as administrator"

    Does it work?

thanks CALLENDER :), tried that one, works for XP, not for windows 7, it's a real difficult one, none of the troubleshooters work either and I restored so far back as well to be on the safe side.

I wonder if it started off with the audio trouble shooter not working first off a while back. Then I thought it had to do with the overall sound problem, always difficult when there are several problems

It works for me! What happens if you press "Winkey+F1" ?

    Does that work?

Just to be clear. How are you accessing "Windows help and support" ?

From the start menu perhaps? Or from the help button in an explorer window?

Thanks Challender :), for coming back to me,

    I don't have it, or can't find it , ( C:\Windows\Winhlp32.ex.)

When I press Windows key + F1, I see 4 little boxes with text in them. Disconnect projector, Duplicate, Extend and Projector only

Does that make sense to you ?

From start menu, I will send you a picture of what happens when I try to open it. Any way it shows a big red flashing X in the controle tap below.
