Windows 7: File Association

Windows 7 Pro 32 bit
File Association

Recently installed some simple graphic viewer/editor. After installation some image file types open with the program and some not. So opened the "set associations" tool, selected the file type (extention), some programs were on the default list, only the installed was not. So I clicked on "change" and browsed to the program's folder and the .exe file and nothing happened. Made this attempt several times and still nothing changed. In the context menu there is an "open with..." with this program, but when I select it, it opens in the Windows viewer. The same when double-clicking on the file.
To be more specific, the program is "ACDSee" and file type ".jpg or jpeg".
Appreciate some help.

What happened when you tried, or, have you not yet tried:
Control Panel --> Default Programs --> Associate a file type or protocol with a program

Default Programs - Associate a File Type or Protocol

Hello RolandJS,
Thanks for the answer.
Well, nothing happened, I tried one way then the other, still double-click on a jpg file opens the windows viewer, even in context menu the "open with..." says "Acdsee". I even restarted when doing these experiments, still the same.

.exe file association
So I half downloaded an app and when I clicked it, it asked what program would I like to associate with it and I accidentally clicked Adobe Reader 9. Now I managed to delete Adobe Reader, but now it asks me what program to associate with .exe every time I run an app. Does anyone know where the ext...

FLV File Association
Since almost every board on the forum is geared for W7, I will ask my question here, even though it is somewhat out of place. I messed up the file association for .flv files XP x64 a while back, and now I can't remember what I did. When I went there a moment ago, it said that I had changed it to...

How do I change a file's file type (not only file association)?
I need to change a zip file to an epub file. I have heard this can be done, but when I add the .epub after the file name, I notice the file is still actually zip type file when I right click properties. This is causing a problem when I try to open it in in different ebook reader programs. I...

Is there a way to correct file association problems. I've used the 'default programs' feature but it doesn't seem to solve my problem. Also can anyone tell me what "opendlg" means?
