Trying to create a usb boot drive with sp1 and the latest updates

I am trying to slipstream using RT seven Lite and when I use the windows download tool I keep getting a bootsect file...I am using a 64 bit iso which is correct...what am I missing?

BIOS - Incremental updates to latest vrsn or direct update to latest?
Greetings! I have Acer Aspire 5750G. My current BIOS version is 1.07. The latest version is 1.12. There are a few versions in between. Should I do incremental updates and reach 1.12 or should I just go direct to 1.12? Many Thanks!
External Drive doesn't work after latest updates
I just installed the latest updates for win 7 and after restarting my external HDD doesn't get recognised. This is the Error in device manager: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" Any ideas on what to do? Thanks
