Duplicate File Finder with folder selection

I have been searching for a freeware duplicate file finder whereby, I can select a folder to make the finder select any duplicates from there, rather then selecting hundreds or thousands of files individually.

Most finders find the dups, then just give me a list and I must select each file. Way too much work.

I found one called "AntiTwin" that has this feature, and that part works well, but other bugs essentially make it useless as it does not find all the duplicates.

Further, AntiTwin does not delete the empty folders after it has removed all files from it.

Does anyone know of any other freeware duplicate file finders that has these features?

    Thanks, Mark.

Have you looked at this one?

Find duplicate files with Auslogics Duplicate File Finder

If you try it, do a custom install and deselect the Speed Booster program.

I've used "Fast Duplicate File Finder" successfully, but I can't recall if it has the features you need.

All I recall is that it worked well and that it had a lot of checkboxes and options to give you considerable control.

It can search purely by name or by other criteria. I used it to search purely by name.

The results will appear in the list area in the upper left, with each file name in a separate group.

You can delete directly from that list with a right click if you can detect by sight alone which needs to be deleted.

When I used it, the search results always had some results checked and some unchecked.

It has a feature called "auto-check", but I'm not sure what that does.

    Thanks pbcopter:

I am trying Auslogics Dup File Finder now, I did do a custom and did deselect the bloatware, but right off the bat, I note it installed more bloatware called "adaware" from Lavasoft.

Now, I have used an old version of AdAware in the XP days, and it is good, but I am going to de-rate this software a point or two for installing without telling me.

I will get back here with other comments about ADFF soon.

    OK, I tried Auslogics.

#1, It did NOT allow me to select by folder. I had to select one file at a time.

#2, There were several popups asking me to "analyze my PC, and "speed up my PC"

#3 as previously stated, it installed a third party program without asking permission, or even telling me it was gonna do. I wonder what else it installed. Maybe a virus???

This kind of bloatware is unacceptable.

I give this program a 1 out of 5. There are tons of duplicate finders out there that do what this one does, without the extra crap.

I have never had an issue with bloatware with Auslogic.
It absolutely allows the selection of folders to search within.

However, if you find something else, then great. I hope you will share.

Yes, it does allow selection of folders for the search, but it does not allow selection of the found files to select by folder after the search.

For example, it correctly found files called one.txt and two.txt in both my "my Docs" folder and in my Onedrive folder. (I had previously selected these two folders for the search.) All good so far.

But, once it showed me the list, it selected one.txt from My Docs, and two.txt from Onedrive.

(of course these are two examples out of thousands of files.)

There was no way to tell it I wanted it to "select" all the dups in the My Docs folder and not select any dups in the Onedrive folder.

    Mark.
