    Free DVD Copier

I make back-up copies of my home made DVDs (including menus). Up until recently I've used Roxio 2010, but for some reason it's suddenly started to show error messages, something I've been unable to rectify by reinstalling it. My Video Studio Pro X7 doesn't appear to have a copy function, so is there a good alternative? All I need is something that'll make duplicates, nothing else.

    Hello Chips,

Some "Old School" software I've used, for years, is DVDFlick... works great and vey user friendly.

For best results, use Verbatim blank DVDs.
    DVD Flick

I also use a paid version, dvdfab. Not too expensive if your only using DVD Copy. I can't remember how long ago I purchase it, but possibly 10 years, ago. It's worked great through the years. All kinds to support. Constantly updating their software.
Welcome to the official website of DVDFab.

    Hope this helps' :)

Try the 30-day trial version of Cyberlink Power To Go [whatever the recent version] -- it will be everything you could possibly want for CD, DVD copying, CD, DVD etc., etc., etc.

Guess this the software you recommended.

The only Cyberlink product, for your purposes, to try: Power To Go
    Power2Go 10 Platinum ? Burn, Backup and Enjoy Media On-the-Go | CyberLink
You only need the regular, the non-Platinum, version; unless you desire all of the possible Power To Go features and benefits.

Thanks, I'll try some of your suggestions. I don't honestly understand why it's gone like it. Video Studio has no trouble writing on the re-write disks, so it really has me scratching my head. What I do is make the vid via VS on re-write disks, then once I've got everything as I want, it with no errors or faults in the video I copy onto a write disk. Up until now Roxio has worked great for the transfer, but recently it's started to show intermittent errors, which have become more and more frequent. Now it wont transfer at all, even after a reinstall. It keeps saying I don't have enough memory on my hard drive for temp storage before transfer, which I have. (???)

Was your trusty program also working for previous Windows? I'm wondering if the current Windows OS and the copy program are not "fully talking to each other," not fully cooperating with each other.

I made a mistake. It's Roxio 2010. And yes, I've had Win 7 for years, unless...a few weeks ago it tried to force an upgrade to Win 10. I stopped it and did a system restore, but come to think of it my troubles with the program started about then. Again, I've just tried to fix and reinstall Roxio 2010 and it's come up with the same error every time.

"There was an error writing the image to your hard drive. Please make sure you have 3.6 GB free on any one of your hard drives, then try the copy again.

UPDATE: I'm pretty sure I found out what it was. It was the crummy old DVD-RW disk I was using, 'cause I tested a couple of other disks and they were relatively okay. They weren't working perfectly 'cause they too are a little old, but they copied without much bother. I then went back to the original disk and it showed the same error. That meant I had to go right back to square one and rebuild my project from scratch on another disk. When I finished and tried to copy it it didn't continuously fail like the other disk. Strange, Video Studio doesn't mind them, but Roxio hates the old disks for some reason.
