    Explorer 8, Display Problems

I just did a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64bit. Everything seemed to go ok, but I am having a lot of problems with Explorer 8. Half the time, the browser comes up with a display of binary data filling the screen. The other half of the time, the browser just sits and takes forever (if at all) to display the page. If I repeatedly press the screen refresh I can often get the page to come up, but sometimes I have to restart on a new tab and then it will often come up right away (but not necessarily).

Often the pages are garbled with things overwritten on each other, and drop down lists containing data from multiple separate lists. This is happening with both the 64bit and 32bit Explorer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Problem solved! It turned out that Zone Alarm 2010 was causing the problem. Once I uninstalled the problem, my browser problems dissapeared, and I don't have any more corrupted downloads. (see related post: "not a valid win32 application" for file corruption problems caused by Zone Alarm).

    Hello Hydrology,

Ran into this problem a long time ago with XP when running ZA's firewall. It was a setting that can be changed. Because so long ago, can't tell you which setting in the firewall.

If you want to keep ZA, go to the ZA forum and post this there. I'm sure you'll get an answer.

Thanks, I will do that, because generally I like Zone Alarm and have been using it for many years on my other systems.
