    Hi:

It sounds as if you are describing at least a BROWSER crash, but it would help to know: what browser and what version of that browser).

Can you please provide a bit more detail, e.g. what program or programs?

Perhaps you can provide a screen shot or the exact wording of the error message?

That would help us to better help you.

    Thanks,
    MM

    Hi AmericanCritic,
If ALL your programs are hit by Stopped Working,
sounds more like system corruption or a failing Drive.

    Can you run
    chdsk
    sfc /scannow.

If they come back clean then id suspect my later conclusion.

Yep, that's what I was thinking.
But your approach of "cutting to the chase" without a lot of Q&A makes sense.

    Good suggestions,

Hi here is a screen shot, I am using IE 11 I think.

I cannot run a SFC, Running windows 7 home premium.

This is what it does in all the built in software, from playing music to working in word.

They all say the same thing. I am running another complete virus security check, will let you know the outcome.

Can't update date windows at all but when I look it says that it was.

I have went back as far as I can for a system restore.

Please let me know if you need more info.

    Hi:

If all your applications are crashing, then it would be good to start with @Torchwood's original advice.

Here is a tutorial with detailed instructions about running chkdsk:

    Disk Check - Windows 7

SFC /scannow should run just fine under Win7 HP.
Here is a tutorial for that:

    SFC /SCANNOW - Windows 7

Your hard drive might be dying (and or your system may have suffered major, serious corruption).
As such, I suggest not doing anything else (e.g. browsing or gaming or playing music) until you have run some of these diagnostics.
And, if you have not already done so, I would make sure all of my data are safely backed up to media, to the cloud or to external storage devices (such as a USB external hard drive).
When/if the drive fails, data recovery will be much more complicated and risky.

Hello any help at all would be great.

How do I tell if it is my hard drive that is failing. Is it something I need to take in and have it tested.

All security test have been ok, I installed and ran different security.

Malwarebytes, 360 security, superantisecurity, MSE, etc. I deleted all security and then ran a test lets say malwarebytes, then I would uninstall malwarebytes and install say MSE and do the same thing and all came back clean and then of course reinstall my security.

As you can see from the screen shot above I cannot run a Sfc / scannow as it won't let me.

Are there anymore test's can do here at my house to weed out even more before I have to take it in to be checked.

If there has been an infection of some sort does that mean I would have to erase everything from the hard drive and start over. I should have remembered this about doing a system restore but had forgot. I Have been going through Cancer treatments again and a lot of things seem to go in one ear and out the other.

I'm glad all of you are there so we can continue to ask questions.

    Thank you.............
