Windows Essentials should be installed on the "C" partition BUT you must have enough free space.
The Windows Essentials issue is on my wife's laptop, where I just put in a new SSD, and a new Windows 7 install. It absolutely will not install Windows Essentials, or any of it's components. I've tried everything, and it seems it's a very common problem.
We pretty much gave up. All my wife wanted it for was the photo viewer and mail, because she's been using both for quite some time, and the mail was a nice free alternative to the extra you have to pay to get Outlook with Home and Office.
I'd still install it, if I could, but doubt it will happen.
Hi,
Yea I don't know what's up with that
I installed it with little effort
The only effort I made was creating a system image before attempting to install it
That took all of 20 minutes to create and 20 minutes to verify :)
Hi,
Well you have all the info to start over
Could be done clean installing by now
You have the installation media and the updating process :)
Yeah, I don't want to start over, just for my wife to have Windows Live mail, and the photo viewer. She doesn't care enough, and she's happy with it just working as it should, compared to how it was acting, when I posted about it previously. Whatever was going on, left with the old HDD, and now she she has the added speed of an SSD, so all in all, I'm good. It just seems stupid that I can't put a simple program on it like Live Essentials. Like I said, I found it's a very common problem.
But yes, if I change my mind, I have everything I need. Thank you. :)
Hi,
Can't help with a email program beside thunderbird
Otherwise there are some good free photo viewers around
Chasy's draw is good and does a boat load more than just being used as a viewer :)
Interface takes a little getting used too

I personally for just as viewer use windows photo viewer.
Editing i use an arsenal and the above is just one,
I also use free gimp but it not a good viewer,

I remember that I think I used the same ISO for my cheap laptop that I use for my Exede installs, and I checked, and it has the same program files on the C drive, for whatever reason, so I tried installing the Mail and photo viewer, and it installed, no problem.
So, I tried again on my wife's machine, and it also installed, no problem. Go figure.
I don't get it, but I'm not going to question it. Maybe there was a glitch with the Microsoft site.
Strange.
