Get Dropbox status icon back on desktop after fresh Windows install

On my laptop and old windows install I had a dropbox icon on the desktop like picture 1 that showed a green checkmark and blue circlewith activity. Like in this picture Dropbox | myBalsamiq.

On my current new install I cannot figure out how to get that icon back on the desktop. All I can get is the shortcut icon in the 3rd picture but that white arrow is only a shortcut indicator and does not show activity. I also cannot just drag files to the white shortcut icon like I could with the status icon as shown in the first picture. Does anyone know how I could get the shortcut icon in the 3rd picture to become a status icon like in the 1st picture? I can click up in the taskbar and the activity icon is in there but I cannot drag the activity icon from there to the desktop.

    Hi:

    I don't use Dropbox...

...but what happens when you right-click on the current icon > properties > shortcut > change icon ???

    Do you see other options?

    Just a thought,

The icon can be changed but it still remains a shortcut and cannot be dragged directly to and the shortcut icon is still there.

That sounds more like a "gadget" or widget than a shortcut?

There are a guided troubleshooting tool and a link to their user forum at the main Dropbox product help page

What is the Dropbox desktop application? - Dropbox Help - Dropbox

Or perhaps someone here who uses it will have some ideas.

    Sorry I could not help.

    Cheers,
