    free FTP program

    Hi All,

    I had been using Ipswitch WSFTP_12LE since 2003 and just tried to renew. They accepted my renewal, but when I tried t use it, it wouldn't let me. I would like to buy one of their professional programs, but can't justify the cost as I use it for my own website. I only upload 40Kb a month, so I'm not a heavy user.

    I looked at several free FTP programs and read all the reviews and one that came to the top is: WINSCP.net. Does anyone have any suggestions on this software source or can you recommend another? The reason WINSCP looks good, is, if your not using it for commercial gain, it's free.

    Thanks,

    John

    I've never heard of WINSCP.net, but I use this version of WINSCP to upload to SourceForge and it works great:

    WinSCP :: download | SourceForge.net

    I've never had a problem with it, and it's pretty easy to use.

    FileZilla is my favorite too been using it forever. ^_^
    oh and to avoid the bundled downloads, click on
    1) "Client Download" from the home page.
    2) at the bottom of a list you will find "Show additional download options" click on that.. <-- wow, it even copied the whole link lol and I was just trying to copy and paste the text for instruction purposes..

    3) then click on the .exe link for your architecture type and u will avoid bundled ads :
    Windows 32bit = x86 = FileZilla_3.25.1_win32-setup.exe
    Windows 64bit = x64 = FileZilla_3.25.1_win64-setup.exe
    for Linux or Macs see the other downloads.

    Thanks to all who suggested possible remedies. The problem has been resolved. I can't say how, but if there is one nice thing about computing...there's always more than one way to solve a problem.

    Kindest regards,

    John
