Defraggler was great when I used in XP but I had nothing but problems with it in Win 7. Win 7's own defragger, however, works just fine so you don't really need a third party program for defragging.

It's been a long time for me to do a defrag because I use SSD's.
A couple of years ago I tested several defrag programs. When all was done I chose to use Windows 7 builtin defrag.

In my opinion the Windows 7 builtin defrag puts things where Windows 7 wants them not where a 3rd party program wants them.

It worked as well as any.
    I never did try Contig.

Did you say that Auslogics Disk defragger came with a toolbar or something? Did you do the custom/advanced install or did you do the default/express install?

Did that Auslogics EXE come from any other download site beside Auslogic's download site?

My personal choice but not a recommendation:

For individual files and folders: WinContig

For boot time defrag with custom file exclusion list, custom delete files on boot list and full disk check I use Puran Defrag. It gets it all done in one go. It also defragements all files when the built in Windows 7 defrag cannot defrag files that are in use.

On the other hand on my work based machine Windows 7 built in defrag utility is used - it runs in the background when the machine is idle and any time I've ever checked fragmentation it always displays 0% fragmented.

Why not using the one on windows? You could try an app called Smart Defrag and see if its work well.

strange... I have been running Defraggler for years with no issues (XP32bit, XP64bit, Win7-Ultimate-x64)...

I keep Defraggler loaded on my Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 PC all the time defragging files as need..

    I like Defraggler because:
1- you can do a quick defrag which defrags files 50MB and smaller and leaves non fragmented files alone..
2- you can defrag individual files one at a time to get to the more important files or in groups by folder etc..
