Can install 32 bit app on W7 Ultimate but not on W7 Home Premium

I have a 32 bit application (Photodex Compupic) that I can install with no problem on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit machine I have. However, when I try to run the exact same installation executable on another machine, which is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, I get a message that says "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running." I've tried running the installation executable in compatibility mode but still get the same message. I can run it on the Windows 7 Ultimate machine without running it in compatibility mode or XP mode. I've tried "run as administrator". I don't know what else to try.

I will say the Ultimate machine is using an Intel I7 cpu and the Home Premium machine is using an Athlon II X2 220 cpu.

Any ideas why the exact same installation executable will run on the Ultimate machine but not on the Home Premium machine? Is there a way around this?

The iusse seems to related to CPU. 32bits app can run on windows7 x64 Os

Try to check in BIOS settings if hardware virtualization is enabled

I had read that some older 32 bit apps can have problems running with different numbers of cores in the CPU. That's about the only theory I have at the moment as to why it will run on the Ultimate machine but not the Home machine.

The only BIOS setting was "virtualization technology" and enabled or disabled it made no difference, I'm still getting the same error message.

And it just occurred to me that I have also run this executable on my work computer which is a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit machine with an Intel I5 processor. So I have run it with no problem on two Intel 64 bit machines but cannot get it to run on this AMD machine.

Turns out the executable was corrupted. I downloaded it again and it installed just fine.

That's interesting that a "corrupted" executable would run on Intel cpus but not on AMD. Were you using the same executable to install on the different machines or did you download it separately for each machine? Glad to hear you got your issue solved.
