Windows 7: Whenever Snipping Tool is open, my right click fails in all other apps

Whenever Snipping Tool is open, my right click fails in all other apps

This is going to sound bizarre but it's absolutely true and easily recreated.
I love the Snipping Tool and use it a lot.
But any time that program is open, my right-click fails for all other applications.
Office, Photoshop, Firefox...right click will be dead until I "X" out of Snipping Tool
and then it magically works again. What could be causing this? I've looked under
"Options" and don't see any reference to right-click amongst any of them.
Thank you!

PS: I'm on Win 7 with a 64 bit machine.
PPS: If there's a different category than "Software" that I should be putting
this on or a different forum completely, please advise, but this sounded like
a possible right place...at least to start.

Hello ICIT2LOL. I'd prefer not to download any programs just to solve this. I don't know what you mean about having XP as the system OS. This has been a windows7 machine since i bought it about 5-6 years ago and this problem with the right-clicking only started about 6 months ago.

Sorry mate I opened system specs at lower left and it had XP OS

Just what do you mean by a right click because I have been a great fan of this feature and never had to use it?

Pardon the short reply but my main machine keeps dropping replies

I mean it as literally as it sounds. If Snipping Tool is open, right-click ceases to work in ANY other program. Not outlook, word, excel, photoshop, firefox...something about snipping tool being open completely disables my right click on my mouse. It just does nothing. But if I close Snipping Tool, all is well again.

Just tried that and miloshapiro is right: but that is because, while Snipping Tool is open, it is meant to be used, contents snipped saved, and Snipping Tool closed. A right click simply results in the Snipping Tool cursor (+) coming onscreen, ready to drag around the object to be snipped and saved to wherever you wish.

In other words, right click is meant to be inoperative while Snipping Tool is open.

And ICIT2LOL is right about your System specs: you have XP listed as your OS.

Interesting theory, but i've been using snipping tool for many years and this problem only started in the last year. Took me a while to figure out WHAT was going on...i even rebooted for a while thinking my computer was seriously hosed. Eventually, somehow, figured out that snipping tool was the problem. I sometimes do a variety of things and use that snip so i don't want to close it. Or i plan on using it a bunch that day so it's easier to keep it open. seems a strange flaw that it would do that.

Side note: I just found where in my profile the default was XP (can't imagine that I set that...why would I ever have started posting on a Seven forum if I didn't have 7, lol). I edited it and hopefully this post will start showing me as a Win7 user)

Ok mate take a look at a little ditty I did up for this purpose as 7 OS tells us nothing much at all
SYSTEM SPECS

Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this
System Info - See Your System Specs

or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you donít know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.

Maybe I'm dumb but I don't see this as a problem. Why would you want to right click when Snipping Tool (ST) is open? The usage of ST is to draw around the object you wish to copy, hit 'File' --> 'Save As' or 'Send To' and save or send the object to a location on your PC. There are also Edit, Copy, Tools and Help features available.

I have never been able to use right OR left click when ST is open. Until your Thread, I had not even considered it. There really is no use for it. Open ST - use ST - copy, edit, save, whatever, close ST.
