Access Denied to Transparent Notepad?

Hey guys.

I use this program called Transparent Notepad to view txt and rtf documents. I can't, however, set it as a default program. If I try to do it through the default programs manager it doesnt show it as an option and if i navigate to it it will select it in the explorer window but it doesnt appear on the programs list still. If I try to do it through file types man it gives me an error "Error 5: Access Denied".

Tried taking ownership of it and allowing all permissions. Tried elevating permission by default. Not really sure what to do. If I set it up to open txt files, all it shows me is a dot instead of the text. Something is fundamentally wrong here. It is supposed to be a mod of notepad++ which I never used before.

I was using StNotepadTouch but my free trial ran out and the company went out of business so I can't contact them to buy the product. Which is really frustrating because I used it a lot. I guess I can't find all of its registry entries or something because I can't trick it into thinking it is a first install.

Can someone please help with either of these problems?
