Every player except Media Center says all DVDs are pirated.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Potplayer, Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic Home Cinema, VLC. None of them will play fresh out of the wrapper, genuine retail DVDs. They either give a copy protection popup or will only display the FBI warning.

But Media Center will play the same discs.

What the heck is going on?! I've never had this problem before with any Windows 7 install, nor on the XP install that was on this system. All Win 7 updates up to date through Windows Update. (Are there enough updates in that previous sentence?)

The GPU is an nVidia 8800 GT and the latest available drivers for it are installed. Motherboard is an MSI N68S+ with latest BIOS. CPU is a three core Phenom II. 4 gig RAM.

    Hi Galane,
sounds to me like you need to update your codecs packs.

Just tried the latest CCCP x32 and x64. No change so I uninstalled that and installed the latest full K-Lite Codec Pack. Still the same.

Are the DVDs from your region? Some are region locked. It's a long shot, but it might be an issue.

Yes, correct region 1. I'll check to see if the region has ever been set in the drive. Shouldn't be the issue since XP had no problem with this ion this same computer.
