    SyncToy errors

Hi. I just installed SyncToy and used it for the first time. I have two hard drives on my computer (Windows 7) and used SyncToy on the 2nd hard drive (1 TB -602 GB used). I followed instructions that I printed out from here as best I could. Made several folders for backup and when through a lot of errors showed. Didn't know how to print them out, but tried to do screen shots.

I then went in to look at the folders on the external hard drive, and even though all those errors, it seem that the files were copied over. Some errors had to do with long file names, didn't like copying fonts that I had downloaded. Not sure what all the errors meant but now not sure what to do. I still want to back up on another external drive, but will wait until I can figure this out.

I am not computer literate enough to know some of the terminology in the error messages.

So do you know where I can get help understanding what happened and what to do about it.

    Thank you.

SyncToy does not copy files that are open (in use). That maybe some of the errors.
What do the errors in the log say?

A lot of them were fonts. The error message said they are in use. I had a folder (just deleted what I could inside it) with different fonts to use for digitizing embroidery designs. So, I deleted what I could.

The other errors were because my filenames were too long. These were older video lessons, and I just copied them to a different external hard drive just until I decide whether I need to look at them anymore.

I just ran SyncToy again on the 1st external hard drive (WD) and now getting ready to do the same on the Seagate I purchased. There is some backup tools on there, and not sure how it works, and I do know that SyncToy copies/pastes so I can get into the files, so I would appreciate information as to whether to delete the files on the Seagate External drive or just leave alone. Don't want to confuse this brain.

    Thank you.
