Cant get program to start on startup
Hello, I have IPVanish VPN on my win 7 pc and they updated the software. Well with the old version in order not to get a popup every time on startup I had to go into the scheduler and on IPVanish choose run as admin and that solved my issue now after my update the software wont start at all on startup. The only way i can get it to run is to start it using the icon. I tried putting a shotcut in the start folder and its settings as run as admin and it did nothing. I even reinstalled the software and installed the new version of .exe instead of the update and same thing. Any ideas how i can get this to run as administrator on startup? Thanks..

Hello oxicottin,
![]() By default, Windows will not allow a program to "Run as administrator" (elevated) at startup for security reasons. However, as a workaround, you can create an elevated shortcut to run this program using the method in the tutorial below, and move the elevated shortcut into your Startup folder to have it run at startup. ![]() |

If the .exe full path is not correct at step 8 in Task Scheduler, that would cause it to fail to run.
However, you'll need to use the elevated shortcut method in the tutorial with the elevated shortcut in your Startup folder for it to be able to successfully run elevated at startup. |

I figured it out. In the scheduler under the tasks "Actions" I was reading if you had quotation in the "Start in(optional)" area then it would cause that and I didn't but I did notice the full path was there instead of just the path to the folder where the exe was so I removed the .exe up to the \ and restarted and the VPN now starts no problems without prompts. Oh and I also removed the "add arguments (optional)" it as well had the full path. Thanks!
On a side note I didnt have to do the elevated shortcut method all I had to do was under general select run with highest privileges and the prompt went away. |

However, today for... |
