Replacing Windows Search with One or Two Better Apps

My cousin and I graduated high school together. He a brain surgeon, his son is a rocket scientist, and I cannot figure out how to find a file in anything that resembles a USER-FRIENDLY process with the extension PDF that was created between November 12, 2017 and December 15, 2017 from MS Word using the Save as a PDF with the three-word sequence "new 2016 tax" from a set of 534,000 files of every persuasion including 37,000 Adobe portable document files.

Every time I try to wrap my hands around this Windows Search/PDF/non-PDF/Content issue,I get so overwhelmed I drink until the only challenge left is searching for the way home ---- on sidewalks!

    Clearly I need help!

I love EVERYTHING for searching for files by filenames, but would prefer never even thinking about a Windows Search or Microsoft Search app.

Can some suggest a hack, software program or any other viable solution that will quickly and accurately search the content of those files whose content is more frequently search?

    Thanks!

    Jack,

Is it also good at searching file contents?

    Thanks!

    Don't know. Never tried.
Just type in what your are looking for and see what it finds. As long as you are just looking you can't hurt anything.

If it finds something, just right tick on it and select "Open Path".

Please understand if you use the "Delete" it will be gone for ever.

    Jack,

I looked into EVERYTHING SEARCH and am convinced it is a great search engine for finding files based on their filenames, but not a very good search engine for finding files based on their contents. It can do it, but it is not user-friendly and I think it may not be 100% reliable.

Since posting my original message, a forum member or two suggested FileLocator Pro by Mythicsoft for searching file contents and it is GREAT!

I would be delighted to hear any other suggestions or comments.

    Sincerely,

    Joe

Everything ( voidtools) is for filenames.

Agent ransack ( mythicsoft) is the one I have heard of for searching contents.

I haven't used these, but they might be what you are looking for:

I've been using Copernic Desktop Search v2.3.0.30 for years and I like it.

FileLocator Lite (re branding of Agent Ransack).
It's free and I have been using it for years. Excellent search software that I find very quick without the need for indexing.

You can of course search on filename but also content words/phrases.
