If it's been tampered with then it's not genuine and there is no way of knowing if it contains malware virus and if you don't buy it then it's a pirated copy
What is your purpose of a "mini" W7? Is it to have a lighter version of Windows 7?
Windows 7 32-bit is lighter than 64-bit. That's what I have installed in a virtual machine on my computer; I have only 4 GB of RAM on the computer, so I wanted to have as light a version of Windows 7 as I could.
The nice thing about W7 32-bit is that it is a full version of Windows 7, so you can install any driver or program designed for Windows 7.
I don't also get the point of such "mini" tampered versions of Windows. While the original installer comes with tons of bloat, most of it can be removed/disabled. What are you attempting to do?
32 bits Windows is almost the same as 64 bits Windows. It's really difficult to see the difference in performance and system load between the two. While it's true that every 64 bits program (including the OS itself) consumes a little more memory than a 32 bits equivalent, this small benefit is more often than not outweighed by the benefits of 64 bits over 32, mainly in terms of security.
I want to install it on a virtual machine that doesnt have a lot of hard drive space and only 2gb of ram, it only has to run one program and XP is getting difficult with no support
Windows 7 32-bit will run ok with only 2 GB of RAM; but you need more than that to run it in a virtual machine, because both the host OS and the VM each need their own RAM. You could do a dual boot, with Windows 7-32 as the 2nd OS. But you'll need some hard drive space to successfully pull that off. How much hard drive space is there? Give both the total size of the hard drive, and the amount of free space available for Windows 7.
50gb drive with 16.2 free
Thanks for the reply's but doesn't seem its an easy ask, I will just keep plodding on with XP
.
Why a virtual machine to begin with? What's the problem with running said program on the real one?
If it's an absolute must, why not XP? Remember that support means nothing to the user, as long as it actually does what you want it to do it'll be fine.
Windows 7 might be possible, but performance will probably be bad (2GB RAM is a little low for Win7, and 16GB HD is the bare minimum for a "clean" install and pretty much nothig else).
