Dear strollin,
Thanks for your quick respone and xcopy suggestion.
I was pretty sure that W7 contained xcopy, have not tried is as it was a little kludgy form me. I am not a techie nor do I work in the tech industry.
I wrote a xcopy batch file 25 yr ago to xcopy working files from work files to a read/write DVD and it worked fine, that was 25+ yr ago.
And I want to do the same thing now.
WHAT YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY "I CAN'T BELIEVE WE CAN'T DO IT". Why didn't MS make the powerful Xcopy a choice in WE as a rt. click option with copy, move, XCOPY, rather than a hidden, kludgy DOS command?
Maybe you can help me with the correct syntax. I would surly appreciate it:
MOVE MY WORK FILES FROM A LAPTOP TO DESKTOP & VISA-VERSA:
1] XCOPY FROM LAPTOP TO USB DRIVE
xcopy e:*.* /i:\nj\work *.*
2] XCOPY FROM USB DRIVE TO DESKTOP
xcopy i:\nj\work *.* /xcopy e:*.*
3] XCOPY FROM DESKTOP TO USB DRIVE
xcopy e:*.* /i:\nj\work *.*
4] XCOPY FROM USB DRIVE TO LAPTOP
xcopy i:\nj\work *.* /xcopy e:*.*
Regards,
