The standard version is a joke. It receives updates for only a year and has had over half the features stripped away. If, after trying out the trial version, your client does like VueScan, the pro version is a much better version and will give better bang for the buck than the standard version.

I suggest that your client to both to see which s/he prefers. It doesn't cost anything to try them out.
An excellent use for the trial version of VueScan is to see if your scanner works in Linux. Once you have determined that your scanner actually works in Linux, you can pursue a better option than VueScan.

There is a better one? VueScan is the only Linux option I know of for my Fujitsu ix500 duplexing ADF scanner since it isn't TWAIN compliant. And if I'm already using VueScan for the ADF, I might as well use it for flatbed.

Here is information about the Linux driver (Ubuntu) for Fujitsu scanners:
    http://www.fujitsu.com/uk/about/reso...sp-series.html

You can download the driver here:
    http://www.fujitsu.com/global/suppor...re/ubuntu.html

Perhaps this driver will give you an alternative to VueScan.
