Win 7 Pro SP1 unable to start On Screen keyboard (OSK)

    Hi all,
Unable to start on screen keyboard either from Ease of access or clicking on the exe C:\Windows\System32\osk.exe.
The error box pops up with 'Could not start on screen keyboard.

I have carried out the following:

SFC / Scannow reports all files correct
SURT ran and no problems with updating
Disk health check ran with no errors found (CHKDSK and also 2 third party progs)
Created new account in case profile corrupted
Ran in both Safe mode and with a Clean Boot
No Lockdown Progs installed only Avast Free and Win Patrol.

No other syptoms or problems occurring.

Am at loss on how to proceed further,
    Help Please!!

No problem Magadline, that's why were here, to assist others.
I assumed, being that the username, UK and avatar are identical, it was you. If I'm mistaken then I apologize. Not first time I would be wrong, and I'm sure won't be the last. I searched Google for your post heading Win 7 Pro SP1 unable to start On Screen keyboard (OSK) and this link appeared, third entry from top.

After umpteen suggestions, in short, resolution was browser causing issue.

    Hi Snick.
    Ok I got it now.
The post you saw where it says 'OK now was Browser' was a reply to StrulBrug (of Sysnative) to let him know that I had worked out why
I was having some problems using the forum.
It was not related to the OSK problem as such which has not been resolved.
All I can really think to do now is a repair-install (God all those updates !!!)

Thanks for your help and interest again,
    Magdalene.

    Hi Snick ,
Thank you so much for that info on 'SP2'.
Was not aware it existed, and makes the whole process a lot less daunting.

    Already have NirSosf's Produkey
    to retrieve key.

    Thanks,
