Raw files are not all the same as each camera has a different format and you need the correct filter which one do you require?

You may need to obtain the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw If this is a recent addition to the Leica range. There is a possibility that the latest version of ACR will not be supported by your older version of Elements, if this is the case and the camera format is supported by Adobe (very likely with a top brand such as Leica Edit is listed as supported in ACR 3.6 and up ),

"ACR installer" you should be able to add this to your Elements package but if not then all is not lost as it will be supported by Adobe Bridge which is totally free

Its True: Adobe Bridge CC Is Completely Free for Everyone, for Life! | ProDesignTools

You may have to load your raw files into ACR make any RAW edits and then export in a format the your Elements, (uncompressed Tiff is the one I would chose )

The camera is actually an version of a Panasonic FZ50 Prosumer model so if you rename the files to the end with the ..RW2 it may work as is

OK. I don't seem to be getting any-where with my efforts.
I have a CD with Elements 4, this was used on my old lap-top prior to PSE 9, I can open Raw files on the old lap-top.
Am wondering is it possible to install PSE 4 along-side my present PSE 9 on my new machine.
This would enable me to edit Raw files on PSE 4 (or maybe 9 also??) on my new machine.

Apologies here, The version on my old lap is the same as that on the new machine (pse9).
Pse 9 opens Raw files on my old lap, but pse 9 (from the same installation disc) won't open Raw on my new machine.
There is obviously something missing on the new machine , where do I look please.

As stated above, the plugin Adobe Camera Raw, (ACR), is the way that all Adobe products deal with Raw Image files, It would seem that ACR is either broken or missing on your New install.

The link to the download page for the ACR installer is in my last post.

Installing the plugin should find and link it to your PSE9 automatically but if not ...

This link explains the manual install and activation process (for Photoshop) So you would need to replace the reference to Photoshop Plug-ins folder to Elements Plugins folder which should be in the same file folder tree ... ... Adobe Camera Raw updates cannot be applied
