AOMEI Partition Assistant Uninstall

Perhaps this question is already answered but I haven't been able to find it, either here or on the AOMEI FAQ's.

While AOMEI programs are useful, and both the Partition Assistant and Backupper programs have freeware versions (excellent, of course), one of the issues I've found to be infuriating is the inability to do a complete uninstall to then install an upgrade.

This is particularly so for the PA program.

Searching Task Manager for remnant Programs, Processes, Services - no avail. Yet the upgrasde process gets caught in the endless loop of "PA installed on your computer. Uninstall ? Answer Yes ... start over again"

Preserving the uninstall.dat file didn't help either.

Anyone else have this problem ?

Did you try programs and features?

Another possibilty is the driver is loaded in ram and reboot is required.

Hi ian50,

I usually use Revo Uninstaller [FREE] to do this sort of uninstall. It is extremely good, and gives you the option of doing an Advanced Scan for leftovers.

Unhappily, the answer to both your questions is "Yes".

Particularly the reboot - quite a few times. No joy.

I suspect there is indeed a RAM fragment that remains after a supposed Uninstall, but said fragment is not named as anything we may likely look for. Programs that do not do a full, complete uninstall, but rather leave a fragmented mess, are both infuriating and on the increase.

I've been using Absolute Uninstaller but I'll certainly give Revo a go

I have been using the Aomei stuff for quite a while. I don't have those issues. Not sure what the problem is on your system.

Take a look in the registry for ampa.sys and/or ambakdrv.sys
