Vicon Folder with Generate Lock Code (wechoid) - What is it?

    I just noticed this "Vicon" folder in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs. I'm running Windows 7.

There's a sub folder "Licensing" and then a Shortcut that says "Generate Lock Code (wechoid)" with a size of 2KB. It's dated 10/20/2011. It also shows up in my programs list.

It's not listed in Add/Remove programs and I never noticed it before. Googling it has not turned up anything useful that I can find and I'm curious, and a bit concerned, about what it might be, even though it's apparently 7 years old.

    Any help is appreciated.

A quick Google search yields some motion capture company. Probably not related. If you right click the program, select properties, is it signed, are there any details to its company?

You can run Autoruns and under the Everything tab, in the search box enter Vicon. You can right click any and all entry and scan at Virus Total.

I would also check out FreeFixer. It will scan your computer and present you a list of entries with a link to research those entries.

I got about the same results with google. The original file was a shortcut to an exe file. The folder icon looked like a gold dvd disc with a lock in the upper right corner. Had no idea what any of it means but the creation date was from 2009.

So I went ahead and just deleted the files since they were probably just left over from an older program I no longer use. I'll keep an eye out to see if it pops up again. I'll be running a registry cleaner in the next day or two that will hopefully clear any remaining traces. So far, so good.

    Thanks for your assistance.
