Run 32-bit legacy program on 64-bit machine

I have upgraded to a 64-bit Windows 7 machine, and want to be able to run some 32-bit legacy programs that are incompatible with the new machine. Can this be done by installing Windows (7 or XP) on a virtual machine? Any other ways to do this?

You should be able to use a VM to run the programs and compatibility mode might also work: How to Run a Program in Compatibility Mode in Windows 7

You shouldn't have a problem with 32-bit programs as 32-bit compatibility is built in. 16-bit programs might not be able to run though.

Yeah, I don't see whay you can't run a 32 bit App in a 64 bit OS. They both work. In fact, if you look on your C drive there is a Program Files (86) and a Program Files folder. The Program Files (86) holds 32 bit Apps while the Program Files folder holds 64 bit Apps.

Like mentioned, if any of your programs or Apps are 16 bit, you'll need to install Windows 98se in VMware at least. I actually still have my Win 98se install disk. LOL
