.Net Framework problem. Can't update or install

Thanks for your help in advance.

I had .Net 4.5.1 on my computer installed June 2014.

Since then, I have been unable to update .Net.

    I have Windows 7 SP2.

I needed to get (at least)4.5.2 for software I wanted to install.

I have tried Windows update, the web installer, the offline installer, the net framework fix and, finally, uninstalled the version on my computer.

As a last resort, I disabled Windows Security Essentials and tried one last time.

Although not recommended here, I ran ccleaner and fixed registry issues.

Currently, I have no version of .Net on my computer

I have lots of room on my hard drive; 600+ Gb.

I am appreciative of any solutions you may be able to offer.

    Once again, thanks

    Thanks for your reply, Ranger4.

I have tried this a few times but unable to get an install.
    Always a fatal error.

I'll attach a log from last night's last attempt.

I'm not real smart about this stuff but it looks like I'm missing some stuff.

    3rd one down:

    download ".net framework at DuckDuckGo

This is 4.7.1. Help? (off-line installer)

I had trouble installing (an earlier version of) .net framework, would get to about 90% & quit. (was installing PaintDotNet, installing included on-line install of .netframework.)

The fix of this issue is to rename c:\program data\microsoft\crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18 and try re-installation of .net again.

    Thanks cornemuse and iko22.

Cornemuse, I've tried the offline installers without success.

iko22, read the thread you sent me to.

One of the posters suggested that renaming the file may cause other problems.
    He suggested
Just right click Properties and add a folder permission to it for "SYSTEM" and grant it "Full Control"
Do you think he is correct?

Yes, the commenter just below suggested that he had problems.

But I think his matter is common sense. Just don't run other installers at the same time as making the rename!

Other commenters after that one still maintain the fix I quoted works, plus an alternative fix is to assign all permissions to SYSTEM. It is up to you which fix you try first. Just take care when making such changes.

It is good to be cautious. Think of it this way; if you re-name it, you can always go back to the original name, should something untoward happen that you are not completely happy with.
