Long ago I purchased the "1 PC, lifetime upgrade" version. No need to pay something each year. Just buy it once (for a bit more money, of courseJ and be done with it. Makes economic sense.

Although there's no simple "deactivate/reactivate" function (or automatic equivalent if you simply "uninstall" on that original PC and then "install" on a second PC) to let you transfer that 1-license/1-PC to a second computer yourself, if you email them they will make the backroom licensing server changes if you must upgrade/replace your computer... at least once or twice (i.e. for real), not every week.

In other words they really did intend to license the 1-PC version for one physical PC! Not "no more than one at a time".

Anyway, one copy of the Pro version (installed on one PC) includes the ability to create WinPE-based standalone bootable USB media. And this standalone version should stand you in good stead forever for any of your future drive partitioning needs on any machine, no matter how many desktop or laptop PC's you work with down the road. And you can always install the Free version on those future PC's, if you don't want to buy additional Pro licenses and don't need the additional functionality of Pro.

Windows 7 Home

Hi All,

Two days ago I had to partition an USB drive and installed miniToolPartitionWizard Free v12. I opted out of AVAST installation, installed the tool and completed the partitioning.

Yesterday I found out that all-of-sudden my FireFox home page was changed to msn and my default search engine was set to Bing... I cursed (unnecessarily!) the FireFox update, changed them back and forgot about this until 3-4 hours later I saw Lavasoft Web Companion in my system tray! I un-installed it and removed all related registry entries and I started thinking what installations I had made recently. Since the only thing I had installed in the past month was the miniToolPartitionWizard I searched for "miniTool lavasoft" and found this thread.

In the past I have used several different versions of miniToolPartitionWizard Free: 8, 9.1 and 10.2 and none of them had any secret software installed (as you might guess, I need the tool once in 1-1.5 years...).

In short, this is to confirm that miniToolPartitionWizard Free versions after 10.2 secretly install Lavasoft Web Companion.
