Issue with Windows Media Player 12 and Outlook 2013

Hello all,

I have been having a recurring issue lately with my Dell computer. Both Windows Media Player 12 and Outlook 2013 have been hanging at the same time when attempting to open the programs, although not consistently. This has been happening on an almost daily basis. Restarting the computer only seems to temporarily resolve the issue before it happens again. I have also checked for viruses and my scanners have come up clean. I use Malwarebytes, HitmanPro and McAfee on a regular basis.

Could the issue be related to another program running in the background? Any assistance regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried to Repair Office 2013, which I assume your Outlook 2013 is part of. Open Control Panel & select Programs & Features, scroll down to Microsoft Office 2013 & Right Click on it & select Change, this will open a couple of Repair options you can try. This is unlikely to fix the Media Player problem, but you could try clicking on the Flag in the Sys Tray & click on Open Action Centre, when that opens click on Troubleshooting & allow it to run until it's finished, it usually fixes a lot of problems.

If you don't have the flag showing in the Sys Tray, you can access Action Centre from Control Panel.

Thank you for the input. I did try the Office repair tool to no avail. Also tried the SFC / scannow command in the command prompt and that came up clean too. Will look into the troubleshooting tools that you mentioned.
