Help! QB Error 3371”StatusCode 1118¦License data¦Win7 clone problem
Yesterday I replaced my wife's OEM Samsung 128GB boot drive (full) with a Crucial SSD ~3x the size. I cloned the new drive and expanded her working partition to the fullest extent.
All her programs are functioning properly (including several licensed programs) with the exception of both QB installs.
Both installs will not open past the splash screen with the attached error message overlaid. The odds that the QB's license file is corrupt and corrupt in both programs and the only programs on the computer exhibiting a corruption problem are nil.
The error message 'Click here' link is broken. I searched on the error/status code. Solutions are found here: Error 3371: Could not initialize license propertie... - QuickBooks Community
Given both QB installations were just fine before the drive clone, I cannot believe that any of Intuit’s possible reasons for the error are applicable. I’m thinking that QB somehow sensed a different, larger drive and threw the flag. All three of Intuit’s possible solutions are time consuming to varying degrees.
Before I proceed with the simplest of the three (deleting the stipulated license file, opening the programs as unlicensed then re-registering the programs or running their installation troubleshooting tool) I thought I’d first see if someone here has run into this problem and has either a confirming answer or a ‘magic bullet’ ;-).
Btw, not understanding the difference between having cloned the new drive off the OEM vs. booting the new drive with a MR recovery USB and restoring a MR image (other than ease and time), I guess it's conceivable that there is a difference between the two methods that has caused QB to choke?
