Problems with right click context menu

    Hi all,
As of a few days ago, I have a couple of issues with the right click context menu. When I right click on a file/folder, WinRAR is listed, but I get error "Windows could not find winrar.exe". Of course it's still in my computer.

Same problem with MalwareBytes, no error message, it just doesn't come up. It works only if MBAM is already running. And of course I have the context entry in settings check-marked.

I'm already on regedit. Under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT -> shellex, I see WinRAR. There's no MBAM entry.

Right click menu works fine with my Comodo AV and SAS.

And another problem maybe unrelated, when I click Run -> msconfig, I get error "Windows could not find msconfig". Of course the program is there and even pinned to start menu.

Any suggestions on where in regedit I should be looking?

What exactly are you clicking on when you expect to get both winrar and mbam?

It can't find msconfig because it should be msconfig.exe.

Clicking on any file. It's as if winrar.exe doesn't exist in my computer.

I tried "msconfig.exe" also. Btw, it doesn't matter, it's just like "regedit", don't need ".exe".

Do you happen to have a system restore point prior to this issue?

    Your registry might be corrupt.

    Last ditch effort, repair install.

I'll say a big OOPs! I didn't realize that not using the .exe on those commands would work. All these years I've been using the .exe.

well, if the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT has the entries for WinRAR and still not seeing it once you right-click on a zipped folder, either the registry key is corrupted or your system has a malware infection.

Since you are getting the message Windows could not find msconfig once you type msconfig on Windows 7 run, I really suspect a malware infection.

Make sure the comodo Anti Virus is updated and run a full system scan.
