Download Java without an Oracle account?

looking to download jre-8u231-windows-x64, but seems you now have to make an account at Oracle in order to get the latest installer? Is there a way to get it, without giving Oracle any more info than they should have?

MajorGeek or FileHippo were going to be my suggestions, however, not sure if they carry java jre.

Just use the official download page, there is no registration or anything required at all:
    Download Free Java Software

A quick Google search lands in that very page, from which you get the official download links. Of course, it's much better to use the offline installers rather than the fake online one.

NEVER, EVER download anything from anywhere other than the official developer website. Download sites typically infect official installers with "extra stuff" you don't really want, and we have no way to check their authenticity. Given that there is an official website offering the official downloads, there is no reason to use any other page to get those.

Thanks for both of your help! Last night, it was requiring me to register before downloading, that is not the case this morning. Major geeks did have it last night, which, should have been my first thought as well, as I'm there almost daily. Major Geeks is extremely reliable for untouched/unaltered straight from the developer software.

Regardless of what you have said above, I would definately follow Alejandro85 advice that you should always [if possible] download from the official site/source!

Folks, agree with almost always going to the originating source! However, even a few originating sources have become questionable, not bad, just questionable in ads, popups, etc. Now, concerning 3rd party downloading -- MajorGeeks have never done me wrong in all the years I've downloaded from them.
