Do I need To Refresh Windows Index After Adding Memory

Hi guys, I noticed my laptop was slowing down after 6 years, I only had 4gb of memory so I ordered 4gb more. Computer is running much better now, I was looking at performance and there was a notice "Your Windows Experience Needs To Be Refreshed" "New hardware detected" and that I should refresh indexing.

I just wanted to check with you guys first if refreshing is the thing to do.

    Hello Gary,

It's wanting you to update your Windows Experience Index to refresh its score.

It would be a good idea to do so just to have it updated for the new amount of memory.

No worries. The "Windows Experience Index" is basically just a very simple tool to help judge the performance level of your PC.

By refreshing it does not change indexing, just the way it read the performance?

This would have no relation to the Search Index.

"Refresh indexing" in this case is for updating the index score given by the "Windows Experience Index".

Funny, I refreshed and my score went down by .2 Last check was 3 years ago, so no surprise there. I do have my whole desktop fill with shortcuts & 10 folders. Desktop is where my lowest score is, need to clean it up.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. WEI is nothing solid to base your performance on unlike a good system benchmark program.
